Simulation using virtual reality (VR) technology is useful for many different applications in healthcare, aviation, construction, transportation, manufacturing, etc. Virtual simulation is essential for maintaining safety, security, and regulatory compliance in various industries. It prepares staff to handle emergencies and ensures they comply with regulations. While practical training remains crucial for areas like maintenance and operations, simulated training is gaining importance in different disciplines. Simulated training replicates real-world scenarios and allows staff to practice complex procedures and decision-making in a controlled environment. It enhances their ability to handle complex situations and improves situational awareness. By investing in comprehensive training programs, we can equip their staff with the skills needed for efficient operations. Nowadays, various innovative learning technologies are offered for implementation in airport staff training in order to improve the learning environment and increase the efficiency of learning. One of the common technologies used in the training for airport staff is the use of VR technology to create a virtual simulator. The use of a virtual simulator can effectively address the challenges posed by the complex environment and limited resources. It offers trainees a more authentic virtual environment, enhancing immersion and realism in their training experience. This communication seminar offers an opportunity to share the latest research directions and technology development.

Dr. Tang is the Lab-in-charge of Integrated Product Design (IPD) in the department. His research interests include virtual reality (VR)/ mixed reality (MR), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, digital twin, sustainable technology in industry 4.0 and healthcare applications. Dr. Tang has published over 10 books/ book chapters and over 60 renowned journal articles.
