摘要: The tetrahedral array, widely used in acoustical sensing, requires only 4 sensors while offering well-rounded azimuth-elevation directivity for a receiver to estimate an incident signals azimuth-elevation direction-of-arrival. How would this estimations accuracy be degraded, if each sensors data is corrupted by multiplicative noise, or if each sensor has a nonzero probability of failure? These questions are answered here, by the Cramer-Rao lower bound of the estimation errors variance. This general thrust of research investigation, if applied to other array configurations, could provide a fertile ground for masters theses that are technically not difficult, but publishable in decent journals.
